LifeHouse Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing is committed to offering services for women, trans and non-binary individuals and their children who find themselves temporarily homeless due to a variety of factors (e.g. eviction, job loss, violence, exiting treatment programs) and are in a time of transition in their lives.
Project Backpack helps support youth and their families by providing weekly backpack deliveries to their doorsteps that contain nutritious food, family activities, gift cards and other items that can provide stability when it’s needed most.
Our Before-School Program includes access to the Canadian Tire Nutritional Breakfast Program, offered Monday to Friday. We are proud to be home to the Free Nutritional Breakfast Program, the first of its kind on Prince Edward Island, which has served over 400,000 free breakfasts and continues to provide daily transportation to seven local schools. This essential program helps children arrive at school nourished, focused, and ready to learn.
After-school programs include a variety of activities to stimulate the healthy development of diverse skills. From sports to arts & crafts and science experiments, children have a safe space to explore, learn and grow. Our staff are trained and all programs are HIGH FIVE certified, ensuring high-quality and proven healthy development outcomes.
BGC Prince County, in partnership with BGC Canada, enriches the lives of children, youth, and families throughout Prince County through a diverse range of programs. Our Summer Camp, a cornerstone of our offerings, combines educational, recreational, and cultural activities to foster a supportive and engaging environment.
BGC Prince County offers programs for all ages, including Wednesday Basketball Drop-in for open gym play, Friday Fun Night for kids ages 7–12, and Let’s Get Social playgroup for toddlers and caregivers. Seniors can join Get Busy activities like chair yoga and digital literacy workshops, while youth connect through sport and culture in Stick Together. Families benefit from Project Backpack grocery support, and during the holidays, the Curran & Briggs Gifts for Joy program spreads cheer with gifts for those in need.
