Gary and Jane Somers Community Leader Scholarship
This scholarship honours the lasting impact of Gary Somers, a long-time mentor at BGC Prince County, and his wife Jane, who supported his dedication to youth and community. Gary was more than a mentor—he was a steady presence, a compassionate listener, and a role model who believed in showing up, staying kind, and lifting others up.
This scholarship is awarded to a youth who reflects those same values: kindness, quiet leadership, and a commitment to making others feel seen, heard, and supported. The recipient should also demonstrate the qualities of a community leader—someone who builds up others and leads by example, not for recognition, but because it’s the right thing to do.
